The name "Vega Cuyar" is based on the Vega, a star in the Lyra system, which looks over the valleys of Alicante said to bring strength and vigour to the vines.

Merseguera is a native grape variety to Alicante with great drought resistance and hardiness. The wine is fermented with native yeasts.
