Corofin Winery is a project by winemakers Mike and Anna Paterson, whose mission it is to showcase the best terroirs of Marlborough through a series of single-block pinot noirs and chardonnays.
Clod Block is one of 17 micro-terroirs that forms part of the Churton Vineyard, which spans a ridge line between the Omaka and Waihopai Valleys. Vines are planted on loess and clay, and benefit from cool mornings, ensuring slow ripening and optimal flavour development in the grapes. The farming is organic with some biodynamic practices.
The winemaking at Corofin Winery is artisanal, with hand sorting, indigenous yeasts, whole-cluster fermentation, and no fining or filtering.
