With vineyards in the village dating back to the mid-1800s, the Coffinet family has been a significant member of Chassagne Montrachet's wine aristocracy for over a century. As with many Burgundian families, there are numerous offshoots as a result of intermarrying with other well-known local names over many generations. The intriguing under-the-radar estate of Domaine Coffinet-Duvernay was founded by Fernand Coffinet, whose daughter Laura met Philippe Duvernay from Rully. Their 7 hectares of vines are divided between a village vineyard, eight different Premiers Crus, and a prized Grand Cru parcel.
