Very old vines from 60-100 years old grown on very stony soil from 4 parcels on the Hermitage hill at Tain. Grapes are brought down from the slopes of l’Hermitage on small sledges, after which they are sorted by hand and vinified traditionally. Aged in oak cellar for 15 to 18 months. During this process the wines are also racked.
Domaine de la Chapelle, named for the local Chapel of Saint-Christophe, was bought in 1919 by Paul Jaboulet Aîné; a producer whose name has become synonymous with quality wines from the Rhone valley.
