Deep and lush fruit aroma and very fruit forward. Secondary notes of wet wood, forest floor, and leather. The palate is slightly smokey with a silky mouthfeel.
The parcel of Aux Serpentières is situated in the heart of the south-facing 1er Cru slope on pure limestone-clay soil. The majority of the 0.23 hectare of vines were planted in 1924 by Jean-great-grandfather Baptiste's Paul, making them 90 years old on average. The Lebreuil Serpentières is aged for 15 months in oak casks that are one-third new, one-third old, and one-third two years old. After a light Kiselghur filtration and no fining, it is bottled in December. Because of the ancient vines, the Serpentières is Lebreuil's most concentrated and structured wine, with a core of ripe, sumptuous fruit. Each year, an average of 100 cases are produced.
