The Dyfi Distillery, (pronounced Dovey,) takes its name from the UNESCO World Biosphere reserve that was established in Mid Wales in 2009. The distillery is located in Machynlleth, in the heart of the Biosphere and the landscape which includes peat moorland, estuary, broadleaf and coniferous woodland, saltmarsh and peat bog provide a diverse foraging opportunity for botanicals.
The distillery was established by 2 brothers, Pete and Danny Cameron, in 2016. They bought with them an ideal combination of skills: Pete had worked in the area for 30 years as farmer, beekeeper and forager; Danny had worked in the wine and spirits industry including as a judge in the Decanter World Wine awards.
They have adapted and customised their distilling process, to deliver what has been called precision-distilling. This enables them to precisely control multiple aspects of the distilling process. The results have been recognised through numerous awards, including being the first producer to win the Best British Gin Trophy twice.
