This new beauty has just been released by one of South Africa's rising stars, Sam Lamson. Stars in the Dark is made from vines grown on Cape Agulhas, the southernmost tip of Africa. There Sam found a vineyard that produced a cool, lively Syrah similar to the great northern Rhône reds. What sets it apart from other Cape Syrahs is its freshness. Sam deliberately chose a cool, low-fertility site to bring out this intense aromatic character. It has already achieved cult status and will follow suit both as a wine and as a producer.
