Aromas of black fruit with an interesting metallic note. Smooth and silky tannins and a long finish.
Produced with grapes grown in semi desert conditions at an altitude of 700 - 1,200m in Valle de Uco and Luján de Cuyo in Mendoza.Grapes are hand harvested and fermented in stainless steel tanks using a combination of wild and selected yeasts. The wine is aged for 8 months in American Oak barrels (10% first fill,) before bottling without fining.
This is a serious wine that pairs well with steak and other red meats and hearty casseroles.
Paul Hobbs first started making wine in Mendoza in 1989, before establishing Vina Cobos in 1999. His objective is to make wines that reflect the terroir where the grapes are grown. He seeks out significant areas in Luján de Cuyo and Valle de Uco in which he applies his meticulous vineyard management techniques. The resulting wines are renowned for their elegance and balance.
